I had the pleasure of meeting with the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (#RCMRD). In an age of digital transformation, AI and geo-mapping technologies, I was encouraged by the constructive discussions held on future cooperation and sustainable development initiatives, Particularly assisting the nascent Somali Space Agency. As a founding member of RCMRD, Somalia values its longstanding partnership with the Centre and looks forward to expanding collaboration that benefits the Somali people. The Embassy, together with relevant state institutions, will continue working with RCMRD to help map #Somalia’s future.

We had the honor to receive Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga, Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (#EASF) and his delegation on a courtesy visit. The meeting provided a timely engagement for constructive dialogue on regional cooperation, collective security and the strengthening of collaboration among Eastern #African states and institutions. We underscored the importance of maintaining highly trained and professional police and military institutions capable of preventing conflict, supporting peace support operations and responding effectively to humanitarian challenges. We also highlighted the need for enhanced civilian protection, as well as the critical role of civil society actors, including traditional leaders, in conflict prevention and the promotion of sustainable local peace. The courtesy visit concluded in a spirit of mutual understanding and partnership, reflecting the strong relationship between #Somalia and regional institutions and our shared commitment to peace and security across Eastern #Africa. I am particularly encouraged by his ongoing efforts to recreate the iconic Somali play “Hablayahow, Hadmaad Guursan Doontaan”, (Girls, when will you get married) ensuring that one of our most cherished cultural works is introduced to new young Somalia audiences and to the world, while preserving an important part of our national heritage. I commend Ahmed Farah for his dedication to promoting Somali culture, creativity and national identity through the arts. Somalia participated in the 10th Nairobi Int’l Cultural Festival held today, showcasing Somali culture, heritage and traditional cuisine. The festival highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding, promoting cultural exchange &strengthening International connections. This morning, I joined a thoughtful breakfast roundtable by hosted by @hsfsomalia, @HormuudTelecom and @SalaamSomaliBank, bringing together voices committed to Somalia’s long-term developmental trajectory. The discussion centered on an important challenge: How can Somalia move from managing recurring shocks to building durable resilience? A changing aid environment calls for new approaches. With funding under strain and needs expanding, sustainable progress will depend increasingly on a private sector capable of turning opportunity into long-term resilience. One conclusion stood out clearly. The answer kept coming back to the private sector, Its ability to innovate, mobilize resources, create jobs, expand financial access and maintain strong relationships within communities makes it an essential pillar of national progress. #Somalia #Development #PrivateSector

From informal settlements vulnerable to climate shocks, to communities displaced by conflict and economic hardship, the global housing challenge has become one of the defining tests of our collective leadership. Today, as Co-chair of OEWG-H, I delivered the opening remarks at the Special Session on Housing at the Centre of Global Coalitions during the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum in Baku, where global experts and countries shared their experiences and offered practical solutions to housing challenges. We have valuable experiences to learn from each other. Co-chaired an intersessional meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on Adequate Housing for All (OEWG-H) along with H.E. Ambassador @Ijabril of #Somalia. Also attended the OEWG-H popularization event. We focused on the environmental sustainability and resilience of housing.
