Republicans put up 11 runs on the Congressional Baseball field. Appropriators matched it with 11 FY27 bills reported out of full committee. Congrats to @MarkAmodeiNV2 on leading his last full committee markup and advancing his Homeland Security bill! bit.ly/3Qz0ekY

Consideration of my FY27 Homeland Security Bill resumes shortly. As my final @HouseAppropsGOP measure, I'm proud of what it produces for the American people because our communities and nation cannot thrive without confidence in our safety and security. youtube.com/watch?v=9dZxpfNt…

Promises made to veterans and military families must be backed by action. 🇺🇸 The House just passed the first FY27 appropriations bill - fully funding veteran care, strengthening base readiness, and investing in quality-of-life needs. bit.ly/4tBYe96

Dedicating your life to public safety is not an easy path to choose. National Police Week is a reminder of the incredible courage our law enforcement officers bring to work every single day, and the quiet sacrifices their families make alongside them. To every officer in CD-2: thank you for answering the call. We stand behind you.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was another stark reminder of how dangerous the ongoing DHS shutdown truly is. Threats don’t pause when Congress fails to do its job. I’m grateful the Secret Service acted swiftly to secure the scene, but the reality is they are operating with strained resources, limited support, and heightened tensions. Their mission should be singular and uncompromised: protecting our leaders and the public. We must recognize the stakes, set aside the politics, and FULLY fund DHS. foxnews.com/politics/secret-…

Today, @HouseAppropsGOP heard from DHS agency leaders about their vision for FY27 and the resources needed to carry it out. It served as a reminder that the essential work they do every day isn’t about party lines, it’s about delivering for constituents in every congressional district, including blue ones. When it comes to the safety and security of the American people, there’s no room for political charades. Hopefully, we’ve learned a few lessons from the last rodeo and can handle things with a little more maturity this time around.

Yesterday, Nevada experienced a 5.7-magnitude earthquake. Being prepared for sudden strikes is imperative to public safety, even if it’s just a few seconds warning. This year, I secured funding to expand the ShakeAlert early warning system into Nevada, which has proven effective in neighboring states. Knowing our history, this may not be an isolated event. Have a plan, be prepared, and stay safe! nytimes.com/interactive/2026…

House: Passed full-year, bipartisan funding. Senate Democrats: Shut down DHS. Chuck Schumer has now inflicted the longest shutdowns in history on the American people. 93 days of consequences for our security, our workforce, our economy, our nation. bit.ly/4sc2w6p

Make no mistake, these shutdown charades are nothing more than an attempt by Democrats to advance their anti-deportations messaging and shield the worst first and those with final orders of removal from the policy realities that this administration ran and won on. This is the third time the House has voted to reopen DHS, and it won’t be the charm unless the Senate finishes the job.

Great joining Phil MacDougall at the National Automobile Museum for the What Drives Reno podcast. We talked about my time in Congress and, of course, our shared love of cars. Whether you’re a Reno local or visitor, it’s well worth a stop. Huge credit to the staff and volunteers who’ve made it such a success since 1989. youtube.com/watch?v=ngKn0aWL…

Overwhelmed TSA agents are missing their paychecks, relying on food donations, and forced to consider more stable work. All of this results from Senate Democrats refusing to abandon their strategy of weaponizing shutdowns and turning a blind eye to the fallout it creates.
Americans are feeling the pain from the RECKLESS Democrat shutdown of DHS.    In airports across the country, TSA officers are again being forced by the Democrats to work without pay—for the THIRD time in nearly six months.

While the House passed the FY26 Homeland Security bill for the second time yesterday, only 4 Democrats joined us in the effort to end the shutdown. Its fate now rests in the Senate, and I urge our colleagues in the chamber next door to vote YES. This shutdown does nothing but weaken our security preparedness and leave thousands of employees and servicemembers without paychecks. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

When radical regimes are chanting “Death to America,” the last thing we should be doing is using the department that defends our homeland as a political pawn. Safety and security should be the priority, but right now it's on the back burner. 🧵

As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary and prepares to host the FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics, security cannot take a back seat. The Secret Service should be focused on strengthening its preparations to ensure the safety of every attendee, but the current shutdown undercuts its ability to do that work effectively.

Enough is enough. Congress must take its responsibility to fully fund the agencies that keep Americans safe seriously and end the DHS shutdown today.
