Barack and I were so honored to have @AkunyiliCrosby create our portrait for the Obama Presidential Center. Her artistic brilliance shines through — and the way she infused such life and joy into the piece is truly extraordinary. We love it, and we think everyone who visits the Center will too!

It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.

Chicago, it’s good to be home! Michelle and I built the Obama Presidential Center to be a place where people of all ages can learn, play, and work – and we can't wait to welcome you all later this week!

They were not just programs. They were promises. That’s what @MichelleObama says about the initiatives she focused on in her eight years as First Lady. Throughout the Obama Presidential Center Museum, visitors will encounter the four initiatives that she said served as pledges made to millions of people around the world. Recently, Mrs. Obama reflected on her White House initiatives, and explained why Let's Move!, Joining Forces, Reach Higher, and Let Girls Learn mattered: “There is so much hope, so much potential, inside every single one of us,” Mrs. Obama shared. “And I just hoped to use my platform to help more people reach theirs.” The Obama Presidential Center opens to the public on June 19 in Chicago's Jackson Park.

Bo and Sunny had no idea they were living at the most famous address in the world. They just wanted scratches behind their ears, a patch of sun to lie in, and some wide open spaces to run. That energy is alive at the Obama Presidential Center. Recently, @MichelleObama reflected on her family’s life in the White House. In this new video, she explains how part of the Life in the White House exhibit at the Museum featuring Bo and Sunny—-a playful comic strip called "Our Life in the White House"—was designed so every child, including those who can't see, can experience the joy those two brought to the White House. "The fur is rendered in different textures, so a child can run their fingers across it and feel the comfort Bo and Sunny gave to us," Mrs. Obama said. "It's a reminder that home is being with the people—and pups—we love, no matter the setting." The Obama Presidential Center opens on June 19 in Chicago's Jackson Park.

Michelle Obama's style was an expression of intention—lifting up new designers, and shopping where everyone shops. Joy. Color. Confidence. A reminder that no one gets to define beauty for you.
