In 1883, a group of German singers in Millstadt formed the Millstadt Liederkranz, a singing society that would become the heart of social life in town for decades.

When we asked the Millstadt Historical Society for photos of the old Liederkranz hall, where most of the legendary day took place, they sent us this article instead. We’ve read it about a hundred times since.

This Maifest (May 16 & 17) we’re releasing a special brew as the debut for a special new series of beers, honoring the landmarks and stories that brought this community together. Over a century later, we’re still here, still brewing, and still bringing people together.

Millstadt had a brewery before us.
Millstadt Brewery Co. operated right here in town (across the street from the Columbus Club) until Prohibition shut it down. Like a lot of small-town breweries across the country, sadly it never came back.

Have you ever had any beer from St.Louis / Southern IL based @MillpondBrewing? A couple weeks ago they released a limited release Malort BA Munich-Style Helles Lager in collaboration with @littlelagerstl, it was so worth being there when they opened, lol

Last year we hand-picked a barrel of Yellowstone Single Barrel whiskey.
We have been aging Imperial Stout in our barrel for the past year.
Check back for a release date once we have this newest non-adjunct stout bottled and waxed!
