A3 make asking for feedback a regular part of 1:1 meetings with colleagues. It normalizes the intimidating task of giving feedback to a leader #elmagchat

That would be a great PBIS value...students seek feedback. A great assignment for an AVID or Advisory class..."find a trusted adult and ask them how you can improve in _____". #ELMagChat
#ELMagChat A2: teach students to seek out feedback rather than wait passively for it.

A2: one idea is to make sure peers learn about how to give feedback to others. In the process, they experience both sides of the exchange #elmagchat

I agree - the opportunity to act on it is key. I appreciated an article waaaay back in @ELmagazine by John Hattie entitled, 'Know Thy Impact' - that's the first time I realized it MUST be actionable. Too often I was telling Ss what they had just done. #ELMagChat

Cognitive coaching is a great tool as it moves feedback forward through mediating the thinking of the other person #elmagchat

A1. I honestly feel that feedback is one of the best ways we can dignify the work of teaching. Getting into the details of how someone practices their craft honors it, so I always have a feeling of reverence about it. #ELMagChat

A5: I think authentic allyship starts with listening, is extended by thoughtful questions, and is manifested with courageous actions. It is using one's privilege to benefit others. #ELMagChat

Q3 what's the old saying? "The last thing a fish notices is the water it swims in." Do equity baby steps happen because we are immersed in inequities and fail to question our role in reproducing inequities? #ELMagChat

Q3 I think lots of caring educators fear a backlash. Maya Angelou said, "Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently." #ELMagChat

A2: This past two years has given educators a glimpse of what our students and their families face. You can't unsee the level of pain they are experiencing. And you can't continue to believe that our institutions contributed to the suffering. #ELMagChat

A1 I love this thought exercise! For me, curriculum equity means all students have multiple means of representing content, multiple ways of engaging in learning, and multiple ways of accessing learning. #UDL #ELMagChat

Hmm... self-care. I'm scheduling my workouts for the week on my calendar so I can say, truthfully, that I can't do something at that time because I have an appt. With me. #ELMagChat
