Premier Ford verbally abused an Ontario Superior Court Justice for a decision he didn’t like
An intemperate reaction to another court decision he doesn’t like. He’s done it before, and it is a troubling pattern of behaviour.
👏👏👏👏👏

BIG news out of Kitchener-Waterloo: the Ontario Superior Court has ruled that homelessness is an analogous ground for discrimination under s.15 of the Charter. This is a BIG step toward recognizing homeless people as an equity-seeking group under the law. Governments take note!
The $200/month maximum Canada Disability Benefit is getting an increase in July
Of maximum $4.20/month.
$4.20 🤯
Canada's government keeping trolling disabled folks as they are shoving us toward MAID with multi-level legislated destitution.
Destitution or Death, you "choose"!
ALT Maximum benefit you could receive
Your benefit entitlement is reevaluated every year based on your adjusted family net income from the previous year. The Canada Disability Benefit is adjusted for inflation each year to reflect changes in the cost of living. Your benefit payment will not decrease if the cost of living goes down.
For the period of July 2026 to June 2027
the maximum monthly benefit you could receive is $204.20;
your benefit payment is based on your adjusted family net income from your 2025 federal income tax return
For the period of July 2025 to June 2026
the maximum monthly benefit you could receive is $200;
your benefit payment is based on your adjusted family net income from your 2024 federal income tax return
A change in your income in 2025 will only be reflected in your payments starting in July 2026.
When you apply for the CDB, you may get back payments for up to 24 months from when we get your application, but not for any previous months prior to June 2025.
BLOG: Where the rhetoric of ‘dependency’ becomes shallow
There is nothing antifragile or character-building about forcing a person with disabilities to repeatedly prove they are disabled through humiliating bureaucratic rituals..

ODSP rates will go up by 1.9% starting in July for the 2026 inflation-based adjustment. There's no inflation-based adjustment for OW rates, meaning the actual OW amount received *decreases* in value again, as it has every year for 8 years now. ISAC annual rates sheet coming soon.
"After 40 years providing employment services training to people with developmental disabilities, Community Living Mississauga says it will no longer work under Ontario’s job training program."
“The new model is a disaster.” Premier Doug Ford’s controversial plan to get Ontarians off social assistance and into jobs is failing those with complex physical and intellectual disabilities, according to the province’s own research. #onpolitrib.al/9OV2HCP
Housing policy failures, not unhoused people, drive local concerns
"People are uncomfortable seeing the results of bad policy over decades. I get that. But I also know that 'othering' people who are already vulnerable is not the answer"

Now, just imagine if the Premier had allowed the Basic Income Pilot to run its course. We could have used the evidence to make real changes to address deep poverty in Ontario. Such a bad decision and such a waste.

Poverty rate dropped to a low of 6.8% in 2020 primarily driven by federal pandemic supports. In 2023 it went back up to about 11.1%.

Ontario didn't buy Doug Ford a private jet. HE bought a jet costing $30M using provincial funds. OUR TAXES.
He fired 400 nurses and hospital support staff, has stripped away environmental protections, is taking money from schools and children, and bought a jet. We need to strike
Increased pressure on Ford govt to address rising cost of living & ever-expanding #homelessness, neither of which were addressed in the recent budget.
“A little over a year ago, we all got $200 to help with groceries”. Right before a snap election.
