After “Paul Reed: A Retrospective” closed at OKCMOA in April, the exhibition traveled to the Mary M. Torggler Fine Arts Center in Newport News, Virginia, where it opened on June 6. This landmark exhibition, the first major retrospective organized by the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, highlights the Museum’s role as a leading repository of Paul Reed’s work, thanks to the generosity of his daughter, Jean Reed Roberts, and the Paul and Esther Reed Trust. Drawn primarily from OKCMOA’s permanent collection with additional loans from important museums and private collections, this major retrospective presents a survey of Reed’s art and accomplishments. For more information about the exhibition in Virginia, visit thetorggler.org/exhibitions/… -- Images reshared from the Mary M. Torggler Fine Arts Center.

This Pride Month, we are featuring "Loving: A Photographic History of Men in Love, 1850s-1950s," available at the OKCMOA Store. This book, by Hugh Nini and Neal Treadwell, portrays the history of romantic love between men in hundreds of moving and tender vernacular photographs taken between the years 1850 and 1950. This visual narrative of astonishing sensitivity brings to light an until-now-unpublished collection of hundreds of snapshots, portraits, and group photos taken in the most varied of contexts. The photographs, many fragile from age or handling, have been digitized using a technology derived from that used on surveillance satellites and available in only five places around the world. 📖 Shop in-store or online at okcmoastore.com 📖 Learn more about the authors: love1000.org
