School’s out, and we know what that means… more kids out riding their bikes. We love seeing it. We just want to make sure it’s all done safely and within the boundaries of the law.
With that in mind, this spring the Placer County Sheriff’s Office conducted a two-day E-Bike and E-Motorcycle Enhanced Enforcement focused on education, safety, and compliance with California traffic laws.
Over the course of the operation:
▪️ 104 rider contacts were made
▪️ Numerous citations were issued for traffic violations and obstructing/resisting officers
▪️ Several unlicensed riders were identified, including minors operating e-motorcycles on public roadways without a valid license
▪️ Common violations included stop sign violations, speeding, registration issues, and unlicensed driving
Not every contact resulted in enforcement action, many were opportunities to educate riders and families about the laws that help keep everyone safe.
As summer gets underway, our deputies will continue to be out on the roadways helping ensure a safe environment. We encourage everyone to know the rules, wear proper safety gear, and ride responsibly.
