Trump’s illegal war with Iran was a spectacular failure. It strengthened hardliners, damaged U.S. credibility, and cost lives and money. Now as reports of a “deal” emerge, skepticism is warranted given this administration’s track record. The war must end, but whether America’s security is actually better off remains to be seen.

Federal agents showed up unannounced at children’s legal aid organizations this week with no warrant and one clear purpose: intimidation. It is no coincidence this happened the same week that Trump and his GOP allies handed ICE and CBP an additional $70 billion payout. These nonprofit organizations help kids prepare for court, stay safe from trafficking, and navigate a system designed for adults. They are not threats. They are a lifeline, and their young clients are often under the direct care of HHS’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). ORR has the responsibility for the care and placement of unaccompanied children in federal custody. June is Immigrant Heritage Month. Whether it’s a first generation story or an eight generation story, the United States of America is a nation of immigrants. Even as the Trump administration continues to force through their cruel anti-immigration agenda, I remain committed to ensuring that immigrant communities feel welcome and safe.

This week, Democrats notched yet another win by stopping Republicans from further eroding our democracy. We were able to defeat the FISA extension bill, which would allow our government to spy on American citizens without a warrant. We must keep up this fight to secure our democracy.

When Trump & Republicans forced through their Big Bad Bill, my Democratic colleagues and I warned that people would lose access to health care, especially the most vulnerable. Now, a year later, we are seeing the impacts of this disastrous policy, as sick Americans get shoved aside, all to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy.

Inflation is skyrocketing because of Trump's illegal war with Iran and Republicans decided the best thing to do was to give ICE and CBP another $70 billion.

Trump & House Republicans just forced through their bill to fund ICE and CBP for the next 3 years. Their latest move gives these rogue agencies more than $70 billion of your taxpayer dollars – on top of the $140 billion they gave them last year. I voted HELL NO. ICE must be defunded and dismantled.

I am profoundly disturbed by the ejection of Steven Kahn and his colleagues from the American Diabetes Association’s meeting as they handed out copies of their op-ed criticizing the Trump administration’s devastating damage to American biomedical research. Director Bhattacharya promised to foster open dialogue and debate in science. Instead, he is presiding over an environment where dissent has no place and scientists who dare criticize the regime are cast out. Director Bhattacharya, other HHS and NIH leadership, and the leadership of the American Diabetes Association must immediately explain what their roles were in the ejection of Dr. Kahn and his colleagues, and anyone involved in what appears to be a blatant act of political censorship must be held accountable. Censorship and intimidation have no place in science. Discovery, innovation, and the millions of patients who are waiting for cures demand curiosity-driven science, free from political interference.

Today, I voted again to stop Donald Trump’s illegal war with Iran. And this time, the House finally passed the War Powers Resolution.   Our country has lost too much to this war–it has cost us lives, tens of billions of dollars, and higher gas and grocery prices here at home. Now the Senate must do its job and pass the resolution immediately.

58% of American adults have experienced gun violence in their lifetime, or else they have a loved one who has experienced this tragedy. Gun violence is a public health crisis, and we must end it. That’s why I am fighting to ban high-capacity gun magazines, ban assault weapons, and enhance background checks. The American people overwhelmingly support commonsense gun safety measures. It’s past time for the Republican majority to put these bills on the Floor and let us vote.

The Trump administration continues to dehumanize immigrants at every opportunity. Their rhetoric is sickening and will only endanger immigrant communities across our country. Today, I was proud to attend the ribbon cutting of the YMCA of Metro Denver’s Beyond Hunger Kitchen expansion. At a time when too many families are facing rising grocery costs and cuts to SNAP benefits, programs like Beyond Hunger are stepping up to make sure that Denverites do not fall through the cracks. I’m proud to have secured $350,000 in federal funding for such an impactful expansion.

Trump is using the power of the Executive branch to target Denver. This move is more of the same weaponization we’ve seen from this administration against blue cities.
