Meet the Hasselblad Heroines 2026
Since 2019, Hasselblad has celebrated outstanding women shaping the world of photography through the Hasselblad Heroines program. In 2026, we are proud to spotlight four remarkable photographers whose work continues to inspire new ways of seeing.
Felicity McCabe is a photographer and director known for her striking, highly structured portraits. Through her use of light, colour, and composition, she creates images that balance intimacy with precision. Even when photographing figures such as Steve McQueen and Cate Blanchett, her work retains a calm sense of structure and visual tension.
Matilde Simas is an award-winning documentary photographer, visual storyteller, and founder of Capture Humanity. Using a trauma-informed approach, her long-term projects explore human trafficking, gender-based violence, and survivor resilience. Her work has been recognized by organizations including UNICEF and exhibited internationally.
Haley Nelson is an experimental photographic artist working across photography and scanography. Through projects such as “Botanical Still Lifes” and “Woodlands,” she transforms plants and everyday objects into vivid images that blur the line between still life and abstraction.
Stephanie Yeziyi is an astrophotographer and science communicator with over 20 years of observational experience. Her work has earned international recognition, including honors from the Royal Observatory Greenwich Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition. Through her photography and acclaimed books, “Urban Stargazing Guide” and “China Stargazing Guide,” she continues to inspire appreciation for the wonders of the night sky.
Throughout the year, the Heroines will create new work using the X2D II 100C and 907X & CFV 100C, each bringing their own distinctive visual language to the stories of our time. We look forward to seeing the perspectives they share and how they continue to define their own ways of seeing through photography.
