Hi to the approximately 500 people who started following me in the last 2 days! I mostly specialise in how businesses & international economic law impact human rights in conflict, authoritarian, post-conflict & post-authoritarian situations from a legal perspective.

Tell us you don't know the current reality of the Middle East without telling us... No one is seriously suggesting Israel will/should "go away." BUT it needs to 1) stay in its own borders & 2) abide by international law. It currently doesn't do these 2 basic things.
You’re either in or you’re out. To Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and our so-called allies: no more going halfway. Israel is a democracy and the permanent superpower of the Middle East. The time to live in the fiction that it might somehow go away is long past. It’s time everyone rows in the same direction and deals with reality.

Narrator: it was not arbitrary. The equivalence is real. The objectors are telling on themselves.
Israel firmly rejects the decision to impose sanctions on Israeli citizens and organizations. The European Union has chosen, in an arbitrary and political manner, to impose sanctions on Israeli citizens and entities because of their political views and without any basis. Equally outrageous is the unacceptable comparison the European Union has chosen to make between Israeli citizens and Hamas terrorists. This is a completely distorted moral equivalence. Israel has stood, stands, and will continue to stand for the right of Jews to settle in the heart of our homeland. No other people in the world has such a documented and longstanding right to its land as the Jewish people have to the Land of Israel. This is a moral and historical right that has also been recognized by the law of nations, and no actor can take it away from the Jewish people. The attempt to impose political views through sanctions is unacceptable and will not succeed.

This is pretty much just a list of war crimes. The problem with the U.S. is too few people understand the laws of war, or understand how they protect us.

The GOP has nothing to offer Americans so they shout "Sharia!" And say things like "we need to save our puppies from Sharia!" in the hopes it dostracts their base long enough. Rather pathetic.
I am proud to introduce the Protecting Puppies from Sharia Act. Democrats are losing their minds because I made a simple statement—given a choice between our dogs and those who would ban them, the choice is easy. They can pound sand. This bill will ban federal funds to any state or local government that considers dogs “haram.” Proceed accordingly, Mamdani.

Oof. That wasn’t “anti-American.” That was anti-MAGA — and Europe can tell the difference. They’re not booing athletes. They’re booing what the flag is being used to excuse. Because for years they watched the U.S. preach democracy, then flirt with authoritarianism on live TV. They watched Trumpism export chaos, cruelty, and sermons about “strength” while allies paid the bill. And Vance is the perfect symbol: smug certainty, zero accountability, all culture war. So the crowd did what diplomacy won’t — they told him the truth in one loud sound. When a stadium of 65,000 whistles you, that’s not “surprising.” That’s a referendum.

We booed JD Vance, not the athletes. Italy has always been a loyal ally and a friend of the US, but friendship needs respect. Current US Administration is not respecting allies. Mr Trump offended the memory of the 53 Italian soldiers who died in Afghanistan, where we sent our troops answering the call after 9/11. We have been hurt by stupid tariff policies against our goods. We don’t accept the US leaving Ukraine alone and be so aggressive against Denmark for Greenland. But we still have faith in the American people, which has been forged also by millions of our immigrants. Make America Decent Again.

Your party currently has full control of the government. If you wanted to pass a bill banning partisan gerrymandering, you could and it would almost certainly get Democratic support.

Novel? @hrw found in 2023 denial of a return to amount to a crime against humanity in Chagos. This is based on @IntlCrimCourt precedent. Other reports echoed the analysis. Are you calling on HRW to retract a report for its first-time ever or it just different rules for Palestine?
The new @HRW director was right to suspend a report using a novel & unsupported legal theory to contend that denying the right to return to a locale is a crime against humanity. It had been rushed through the review process during a leadership transition. theguardian.com/world/2026/f…

Hey @cbs11jack, can you explain these two things: 1) why is Trump "former President"? Do you know something we don't? (Pls say yes!) 2) How did the 2 Republicans combine for more votes than Rehmet but Rehmet had more votes than the 2 Republicans combined?

Unbelievable. After months of propaganda claiming Maduro is the head of the dangerous drug-smuggling cartel, the US government has admitted it was all a ruse in order to kidnap a sitting head of state.

This is so cringe. The fact that they think repeating '03 talking points while saying things like this will mean this turns out differently... too naive.
This is OUR Hemisphere, and President Trump will not allow our security to be threatened.

What an embarrassingly weak response from Greece. It is never *not* the time to comment on the legality of the attack. Why is it so hard for Europe to say, "We might like the end results but this was unlawful & should not have occurred like this"?
Nicholas Maduro presided over a brutal and repressive dictatorship that brought about unimaginable suffering on the Venezuelan people. The end of his regime offers new hope for the country. This is not the time to comment on the legality of the recent actions.

BREAKING: Pam Bondi has charged Nicolás Maduro with “possession of machine guns” under the National Firearms Act of 1934, a U.S. gun law. Think about how absurd that is. By that logic, China or Russia can kidnap Trump and sentence him to death for “possessing” 5,200 nuclear warheads under their domestic laws. American presidents are now supposedly immune from prosecution for their official acts, yet foreign presidents can be arrested for allegedly violating U.S. statutes that do not apply to foreign citizens, in foreign countries. You can hate Maduro and still recognize that this precedent is reckless, hypocritical, and dangerous, because once domestic law becomes a weapon against foreign leaders, no country gets to complain when it’s done to us next.

Truth. Trump gave China multiple gifts today.
They are confusing being able to remove an unpopular dictator from a bankrupted country with “projecting their will”. It may take some time, but it will not be long for Latin America - US relations to realign to this new reality. And that is good for China

You can't seek a safe & peaceful transition when it started with war & is moving to an unlawful occupation. Be better, Keir.
The UK has long supported a transition of power in Venezuela. We regarded Maduro as an illegitimate President and we shed no tears about the end of his regime. I reiterated my support for international law this morning. The UK government will discuss the evolving situation with US counterparts in the days ahead as we seek a safe and peaceful transition to a legitimate government that reflects the will of the Venezuelan people.
