Great to sit down with @Alberta_UCP summer interns here at the Legislative Assembly. These young people are curious, passionate, and engaged, exactly what politics needs more of. It's great to have them in the building and after our discussion I have a feeling we'll be seeing a few of their names on a ballot someday.

Attended the BOWDA (Bow Valley Builders & Developers Association) luncheon yesterday and had the pleasure of having constructive conversations with key developer stakeholders. I also appreciate Mayor Sean Krausert taking the time to give me a tour of Canmore. It’s always a pleasure to discover the community’s hidden gems and see the thoughtful development underway that are supporting responsible tourism growth across Alberta’s Rockies.

Canada may be in a recession, but Alberta sure isn't 💥 Thanks to having no PST, the lowest corporate taxes in Canada, aggressively cutting red tape, and a relentless focus on keeping Alberta affordable, we continue to be the economic engine of the country. More evidence that Alberta can keep growing and thriving in an uncertain world 📈

Across Alberta, our United Conservative MLAs are working to champion their communities, attract investment, and grow regional economies. MLA @CdeJongeAB has been a strong advocate for Wheatland County, which is quickly emerging as a hub for manufacturing and investment with the opening of CGC Inc.'s wallboard plant and the construction of De Havilland Field. These projects do not happen by accident. They require collaboration between government and industry, and these two projects have shown the leadership of MLAs, reeves, mayors, and councilors are a critical part of that conversation. The momentum in Wheatland County is incredible. It is creating jobs and showing the confidence businesses have in Alberta. I look forward to seeing this success continue in Wheatland County and across our province for years to come.

With the FIFA World Cup just days away, it’s incredible to see Canadian construction history in the spotlight! Originally built by Alberta-based CANA, Vancouver’s iconic Science World Dome has been transformed by The Look Group into the largest FIFA World Cup soccer ball in Canada. Hosting a global tournament wouldn’t be possible without the construction companies who build our infrastructure — from PCL’s BMO Field in Toronto to creative upgrades like this one. Go Canada Go! 🍁

Indigenous equity and governance are increasingly shaping the future of Canada’s energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors. It was a pleasure to join leaders from across industry, Indigenous communities, and the financial sector for a thoughtful discussion on partnership models that support long-term value creation, shared decision-making, and meaningful participation. #IndigenousLeadership #EconomicReconciliation #IndigenousEquity #Governance #EnergyProjects #Mining #Infrastructure #Canada #Partnerships #ProjectDevelopment

Our frustrations are real and the rest of Canada needs to hear them. I brought this conversation to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, with major cities from across the country in the room. It’s time for an equal deal, not just for central Canada, but the west too.

Congratulations to Wood’s Homes on 100 years of supporting children, youth, and families across Alberta. I was honoured to join the minister of Mental Health and Addiction @Richard4Alberta to announce Alberta government’s $4 million investment to support the modernization of @WoodsHomesNFP Bowness Campus in Calgary, creating more spaces where vulnerable children and youth can access the care and support they need. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this remarkable milestone and lasting impact on generations of Albertans.

Alberta officially welcomed CGC Inc. as it opened its new state-of-the-art wallboard manufacturing plant in Wheatland County. This $210 million investment will create jobs, strengthen Alberta's manufacturing sector, and generate opportunities for decades to come. Congratulations to CGC Inc. and its parent company, USG on this historic milestone. Thank you for the confidence you've placed in Alberta. We look forward to your continued success in the years ahead.

It was great to join industry leaders at the Global Energy Show this week to talk about Canada's nuclear supply chain and the work underway to advance nuclear energy in Alberta. Through our recent public engagement on nuclear energy, we heard a lot of positivity around nuclear energy from Albertans, but there were also thoughtful questions about how safety, emergency preparedness and environmental impacts would be addressed. This feedback will help inform and guide the development of a nuclear energy roadmap in the months ahead.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at a packed room at @burwoodspirits groundbreaking, an important step in showcasing Alberta’s distinguished whisky and supporting the development of an Alberta Whisky Trail. A Whisky Trail will develop new tourism experiences, drive local economies, and create new jobs.

Last week I was in Ontario and was able to meet with the Honourable Marjorie Michel to discuss matters of mutual interest. I appreciated our open and frank discussion as Alberta continues our work to increase access to and improve our health care system. I also met with the MP for Red Deer, Burton Bailey, and the Leader of the Opposition, and appreciated the opportunity to connect on shared priorities and perspectives. To close the week off, I had a productive meeting with my colleague, the Honourable Sylvia Jones, Ontario’s Minister of Health, as well as several health care business leaders, to discuss innovation and opportunities across the sector. It was great to share what’s happening in Alberta and learn from others as we work to strengthen health care across the country.

Targeting lawful firearms owners does not make communities safer. That's why Ottawa should make the firearms amnesty permanent - to protect public safety and focus enforcement efforts on criminals, illegal firearms trafficking, and gang violence.
The federal government’s decision to extend its firearms amnesty once again is an admission that its firearm confiscation scheme is ineffective and deeply flawed. Ottawa should make the amnesty permanent and abandon its plan to confiscate legally acquired firearms from law-abiding Canadians. Gun confiscation programs will never stop gang violence, cross-border gun smuggling, and the criminal misuse of firearms. We will continue to use every lawful tool at our disposal to shield Albertans from any form of firearms confiscation. Alberta believes in a principled, evidence-based approach to firearms policy that targets violent criminals and illegal guns, not responsible firearms owners who follow the law. (And yes. That is a picture of me skeet shooting with friends.)
