Where campus meets community. Our Town & Gown Summer Social Series spotlights the local businesses that help define downtown Flint’s energy, and the places our students, faculty and neighbors call their own. Together, they create a connected experience that extends well beyond the classroom, shaping how we live, gather and engage in the city every day.
Today, we kick things off with a downtown destination, the Flint Farmers’ Market. A year-round public market established in 1905, it features 50 vendors, including several produce purveyors, a meat market, a variety of poultry, breads, baked goods, cheeses, wine, an art gallery, a cafe, Middle Eastern and Mexican groceries, and many unique gifts—plus a diverse lineup of food vendors serving everything from quick bites to full meals. From May through October, another 25 vendors offer fresh produce, flowers, and arts & crafts.
