The most interesting thing in tech: A wonderful encyclical from Pope Leo on AI. It takes as its metaphor, and guiding principle, two stories. The first is the Tower of Babel, a monument to human self-assertion that ended in scattering and confusion. And second, the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem in the book of Nehemiah, a story of humanity working together to rebuild with shared responsibility. Our current path in AI looks too much like Babel, he argues, and it needs to look more like Nehemiah.
