Indie producers can still make movies like “Obsession” cheaply in the U.S. by shooting nonunion.
The breakout horror hit filmed in L.A. for just $750,000, but as domestic production slows, IATSE has been pushing harder to “flip” nonunion projects — driving up costs.
“The films I grew up making, for $500,000 or $1 million, the unions are really interested in having those be signatory projects,” producer David Kaplan says.

It’s incredible that we’re 37 films into the MCU and people are putting together their X-Men wishlist of things that apparently need to happen after they’ve made it clear again and again and again that they do not give affff about actually making movies that are worthwhile.

"I'm on a bus....and there's a little guy sitting next to me and he starts telling me this story that was about these boys and this comic he was writing, His name is Darick Robertson. he's going on and on and he looks at me he says what do you think? I said "I think that has legs. I think that's a TV show and I think you should keep going."
That was 7 and 1/2 8 years ago. And I'm on the set of The Boys and this little guy comes up to me and he says, "Thank you very much." I said, "For what? Who the f*ck are you?" He says to me, "I did the comic. I'm Darick.""

20 officers showed up. Then a helicopter. For a noise complaint in an apartment complex.
And they shot Jameson dead. In front of his owner. In front of her child.
No warning. No de-escalation. Nothing.
The media is barely covering this. No headlines. No outrage.
Like it never happened.
If this was your dog... your child watching... how would you feel?
Jameson deserved better. That little boy deserved better. His mama deserved better.
