One funny thing about EU policy during the Ukraine War is that had the tools to brain drain Russia, and didn't use any of them. Instead, expat influencers like NFKRZ are describing Kafkaesque situations like bank account being a condition of gaining residency, while to open a bank account you need that residency in the first place. Furthermore, even if you do somehow manage to open a bank account, they get arbitrarily closed due to tightening EU regulations targeted at Russian money laundering all the time anyway. This applies to dissidents and LGBTQ as well, the individual bank has no obligation to take on any additional risk and refuses to play it safe. This Russian diaspora also has no political representation. The only Russian political "opposition" within the EU are performative dissidents and "captive nations" larpers whose main priority is to access EU grants. Actually lobbying for concrete things that enable Russian emigre integration in Europe will just result in NAFOids and East Europeans calling them agents of Putin and enablers of Russian espionage. So they do not that and focus on Free Ingria instead. Anyhow, my advice for Russians who want to leave and don't have second citizenships and/or a high-status professional job lined up is to avoid Europe entirely. SEA is much cheaper and has much less hassle. You will obviously not "integrate" or "settle" in 99% of cases but there is no need for that. LATAM too is preferable.
