Tracking down Elvis Costello’s Japanese CD releases with bonus tracks isn’t easy in the UK. Very happy to find this one though and to hear Elvis’s cover of The Velvet Underground!

Van Morrison has released 45 studio albums, Bob Dylan 40, Elvis Costello 33. I was surprised to see the Rolling Stones output is relatively slim - just 25 studio albums in 62 years.

One of the joys of @ElvisCostello 7”singles is the gems you find on the other side. Such as Hoover Factory, a paean to the then abandoned Art Deco building on London’s Western Avenue. One of the songs he arrived with at Stiff, it was used as a B-side 4 years later.

The most pernicious influences in rock, according to ZigZag magazine, November 1976. 50 years on, I guess some of this still stands?

Sad to read that Beverley Martyn passed away yesterday. She was 79. Beverley had a wonderful voice and I will always love Stormbringer and The Road To Ruin, the albums she made with her then husband John.
