We need to talk about the rollout of this album and why it was literally genius. The amount of surprises she's planned is mind-boggling. From interviews to her first feature to a fortnite collab, a huge asset in a good rollout is never getting the feeling of the wait being too long. Never once in this rollout did I get bored or impatient. She made two months feel like a couple weeks which is proof that she knows what her fans like and how to keep us sated without boring us in the end. The wall being the center of this rollout and always bringing us back whenever something new was about to happen was genius. It felt natural and it kept the process grounded. She wasn't just throwing us surprises to keep us locked in. We always knew where to look whenever a new rumor surfaced. This is very important, to have an anchor or home base. That's how you keep the anticipation from dying down over time. Two months is a long time. The way Olivia spaced out her singles was perfect. Between them she also released interviews every few days, she did live performances and a surprise prima vera appearance in Barcelona. She gave us an actual long-form interview with a lot of leeway for what questions they can ask her (which is why I loved that interview with popcast) etc. Like she's not taking her status and fame for granted. I love when an artist takes their job of being an entertainer literally. I was entertained the entire time and I think most people would agree that this type of promo and rollout deserves awards. I hope more artists recreate it for their own albums. I know she borrows a lot from Taylor's blueprint for album eras, and I would too. Taylor invented the perfect way to include her audience in the process of releasing new music. Everyone should be more like her and Olivia. I could keep going. This era is so perfect.
