Australia’s new national emergency alert system will be tested soon to make sure it works during emergencies like natural disasters. People in some communities will receive a test alert in June 2026, before the rest of Australia in July 2026. During the test, a loud sound will play on all compatible devices, even if they are on silent or ‘do not disturb’. If a device is turned off, the alert will sound when it is switched back on.
