So @washpost has a report about the ubiquity of sports betting ads on TV. But they neglect to mention how such ads are a mere fraction of the nonstop barrage of David Trone/April Delaney campaign ads. (I live in Virginia and have no stake in that race.) washingtonpost.com/investiga…

.@dougkammerer Recognizing its several days, when you give us the ten-day forecast, I wonder whether you could opine on how things look for the Springsteen concert at Nats Park on Wednesday. Thanks in advance!

I agree completely with @AdamTuss. No reason to turn the heat back on yesterday, last night, or today. It was only 2° cooler in the house today than it would have been had I turned the heat on. A sweatshirt did the job. (And a cold room is nice for sleeping.) @eunyangnbc

.@VaDOTNOVA Don’t know whether this is yours or Fairfax County's. Corner of Silver Lake Blvd and Interparcel Rd. Note the bizarre yields. The other street has stop signs. And note how there are yields on BOTH sides of the intersection. These should be R1-5a, not plain yield.

Excuse me. R1-6a, not 5. Old habits die hard!

.@emilymkaplan Your colleagues were just discussing how to say “Liljegren.” Is there any truth to stories that the Maple Leafs dictate to their players how their names will be pronounced? I’ve noted Russian players whose pronunciations suddenly change when they sign with Toronto.

.@dougkammerer, @eunyangnbc, and colleagues were wondering what to call this storm. I think the mayor came up with a great answer! “Snowcrete” is certainly what most of us will remember.
Snowcrete is a good term for this.

It seems to me this sort of thing could reasonably be prosecuted as reckless driving under the general reckless statute.
Here's why you need to clear ALL snow/ice from your vehicle. This happened on 581 in Roanoke. Flying ice from a nearby car pierced this windshield, inches from the passenger's face. No one was hurt, but someone could have been killed. Please, clear the entire car before driving.

.@dougkammerer @amelia_draper @capitalweather All of you have mentioned the upcoming long stretch of below-freezing temperatures. Is there any chance the Potomac could freeze solidly enough for people to walk on it? Last time I recall that was in the late 1970s.

The moment riding the subway brings back bad educational memories for those of us who grew up in Catholic parishes in the 1970s. #IYKYK

Watching the Redskins–Eagles game and every time the commentators say “Devante Smith,” it sounds wrong with no “Pelly” on the end. @smithpelly23 @alexalandestoy @AlanMay_16 @JoeBpXp @JohnWaltonPxP #ALLCAPS

.@Amtrak Dec. 9, train 2154, there is no heat in at least the first class car. I would say this is not cool, and I guess that would be true because it is COLD.

.@WTOPtraffic Use extreme care southbound on Washington Blvd leaving the Arlington Cemetery area. Lots of illegal U-turns going on across the median curb. Like this guy who was next to us.

On tonight’s news, @eunyangnbc was speculating on whether it’s a good idea to eat unopened @ovi8 Ovi O’s cereal. We have a box of those. But we also have this other unopened cereal from 1995 that probably makes Ovi O’s seem fresh and new.
