We are saddened to announce the loss of Marshall Rooster last week just days after his 27th birthday. A 17-year resident of the farm, his racing career saw him finish in the top 3 in 27 of his 74 starts. He will especially be missed by his paddock-mate Royalian.

Oliver Lewis was told to lose the 1st Kentucky Derby. He was to go hard early, wear down the other horses, then fade & let a faster horse from his stable win. He spent the race pulling his horse back, until the owner waved him on & he won the race he wasnt meant to.

Seattle Slew has always been one of my favorite racehorses. As a bit of trivia, I recently discovered that back in 1977 composer William Bolcom wrote a beautiful Seattle Slew-inspired piece called "Seattle Slew Orchestral Suite." There are three parts and one is called "Preakness Promenade." That's my favorite. It may be on YouTube if you want to give it a listen. I think even Slew himself would have enjoyed it.
