15,000 miles annually
EV:
90% at home. 0 minutes.
10% fast chargers. 10 stops, 5-10 hrs. Often coincides with breaks/eating/multitasking.
Gas:
60 gas station trips. 15 minutes each (driving there, parking, fueling). 15 hrs.
You save time with an EV.

In 2021 automakers endorsed 50% of all new cars being zero emission in 2030. Reportedly, this rule would call for 54% in 2030. What happened between 2021 and today? Enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act which included the largest incentives for EVs in US history.

The EPA proposal, to be released Wed., would set GHG emissions limits for 2027-32 model years that are even stricter than goals the auto industry agreed to, calling for half of new car sales to be EVs by 2030.

The Inflation Reduction Act passes with 220 aye votes. The comprehensive climate legislation passed by the House in 2009 had 219 aye votes.

I am especially pleased that our methane emissions reduction program, environmental justice block grants, and climate bank provisions were approved. They will ensure a safer climate, create good-paying jobs, and lift up communities across the country.
