I said that because I know all you MLS bed wetters actually believe those things.
I believe 6th placed finishes in Conmebol.
In world football, the top eight teams have a chance to win a world cup. Those teams are almost always the same. The top 16 teams have a chance to make a semi, or even move into the top 8.
I want to be part of the top 16 teams regularly.
Beating the 6th placed Conmebol team doesn't prove anything. It proves that American soccer fans are ignorant enough to think that means something.
Spoiler alert: it doesn't. Bookmark this and then watch the rest of our games.
The wall we have to climb exists at the top 16 and it has since the 94 team set the bar there.
Is this team good enough to climb that wall: we'll find out. I sure as hell hope they are, but nothing I've seen in the last eight years indicates they are, especially this win against the 6th placed conmebol team.
