@swmcintosh Scott, today's SFI reading is 312. The reading was recorded before the X 9 flare so it is "clean" setting a new record high for SC25. It is highest Solar Flux reading record since the reading of 315 recorded on February 23, 1991 during Solar Cycle 21

The SFI crossed above a value of 300 five times in SC22. In Solar Cycle 21 the SFI exceeded 300 only twice. And SC21 is the second highest Solar Cycle in Recorded History. Today's read is the second time SC25 has exceed an SFI Value of 300

The march upward of the 90 Day Mean, the 81 Day Mean and the Monthly Mean indices continues. Currently those indices stand at 203, 212 and 261 respectively. All are at levels we have not seen since SC 22 some 30 years ago.

I would expect those indices to take a break over the next Solar Rotation and resume their climb late in September.

Both the 81 Day Mean SFI Number and the 90 Day Mean SFI are ascending at a very brisk pace the 81 Day Number is accelerating away from the 90 Day Number. They stand at 209 to 202. This points to a near term upward trend in SFI.

2 New Active Regions rotate over the East Limb of the Sun in the next few days. The Daily SFI Numbers should stabilize at 270. Today's SFI Number is 282. The 81 Day Mean SFI Number is 204 with the 90 Day Mean SFI Number reading an even 200. The Monthly Mean SFI for August ....

The Monthly Mean SFI Number is 268 although it's still early. Anything above 250 is more like a Cycle 22 number than a Cycle 23 number.
