The going is getting good as the battle is joined and the Wars of Light and Shadow have truly begun. Looking forward to the conclusion and finally finishing the book this week!

So in a few weeks, after I finish Curse of the Mistwraith, I’m going to take a day to do an Indie Dark Fantasy Faceoff. So far I have six books that I will read the Prologue and Chapter 1 of each & post about to determine which book I’ll read next. Anyone have other suggestions?

@ChanceBeeDillon hey so I want to read the prologue and first chapter of all these books. Of course, I noticed Mercy has 3 prologues haha. To get a proper taste of Mercy would I be safe reading just the first and Chapter One?

@booksblabbering you are probably one of the few people I know who’ve probably read them all and the others people have suggested haha

Finished this one today. A fun deviation from the standard POV of the first trilogy. Overall very enjoyable story that concludes some character arcs from that trilogy. 4 ⭐️ 9/10

Honestly the most gorgeous set of covers I could probably compile. Wish I had them all in paperback instead of Kindle haha

Finally about to enter the chapter (12) everyone says the book & series really takes off. I hope this is true as I’ve been enjoying myself a little bit more the past couple chapters. How this book ends will determine if I continue the series and how soon I jump into book 2.

Talk about a scary dog… who’s a bad dog? Excited for the new POV and perspective as I continue my Black Company journey!

Finished this yesterday, absolutely loved it, 5 ⭐️ 10/10, best of the trilogy. I loved the Bomanz sections and the Lady’s arc is one of the best I’ve read in a very fascinating character. Underrated series, underrated author

Finally finished this one! This one felt bloated and took 6 months! That never happens, put it down for long stretches. Overall, I’m giving the book 3 ⭐️ out of 5 and am overall 7/10 rating thanks to the ending and last 20% of the book. OWAR remains my favorite of the series.

Started the finale to the first Black Company trilogy. I’m pretty excited to see how this arc ends. Croaker is a fav POV character at this point and I love the lore that is sprinkled in during this series. Underrated…

Really hate all the Sanderson hatred that has been going on with poorly put together quotes and misquotes from years ago. If anything, I think he should be applauded for knowing his limitations in not being a good fit for ASOIAF. And GRRM’s s_x scenes are total cringe and tacky

Finished this today, a much tighter and better paced story. Glen Cook does it again in what’s quickly becoming one of my favorite series. Underrated is an understatement. 5 ⭐️ 9.5/10

If the Project Hail Mary discourse has told me anything, it’s that people are desperate for Hollywood to make original movies. It’s too bad the quality bar is so low that an average at best movie like PHM is talked about like it’s one of the best sci-fi movies of all time

Watched PHM in IMAX. It was a standard, safe scifi movie with a light tone & no serious depth, cause for introspection or anything of substance. The visuals were basic, soundtrack subpar, no stakes dispute the movie telling me there were. I gave it a 6/10 and won’t watch it again

After the 3rd “Convince me that…” post I was ready to stab my eyes out

About 40% done. Loving this book so far. More tightly written than the first book. This series is vastly underrated. Cook should be a fantasy household name like Jordan, Martin and Sanderson. Of course, Steven Erikson should be as well. Alright, I’ll get off my soapbox.
