A lovely conversation with #IvorPerl @freedland here showing a survivor's hope & enormous compassion. There's talk of hatred but hope seems to have raised Ivor Perl above hating people into hating the terrible things we still do to one another.

Ivor Perl was 12 when he was deported to Auschwitz.
Later he had to do forced labour in Kaufering*.
Of his family, he and his brother Alec survived the Holocaust.
Does he hate Germans? “No, I think what I hate is what human beings allow themselves to do.”

Last year, Chelsea Under-15s spent time with Ivor Perl BEM, a Holocaust survivor who was taken to Auschwitz as a 12 year-old boy along with his mother, sisters and younger brothers – only he and one of his eight siblings survived.
