I went through your timeline and couldn’t find you saying anything about what’s happening in Belfast. It’s always South Africa that gets lectures, statements and international outrage but the same voices are often nowhere to be found when similar incidents happen elsewhere. South Africans will decide South Africa’s future. We can listen to opinions but we’re not obligated to accept every narrative pushed by people who don’t live with the consequences of our government’s policies. Every country has the right to discuss its immigration laws, border security and national interests without being reduced to a caricature. So go to hell Sir.

Long post alert: CHAMPIONS! It is impossible to put into words how incredibly fantastic and delicious yesterday was. I had the BEST TIME as part of the @ComradesRace commentary team, on the ground getting into the heart of the runners and the race. There were lots of tears along the way and especially at the end. And some of the runners cried too! Thank you to all the runners who spoke to me and opened up so honestly about their reasons for running this race. It was an honour to run / walk beside you and chat. Comrades Marathon is unbelievable in how it brings us all together. Strangers screaming and shouting and crying for strangers, friendships made on the road, dreams realised and even some crushed. I had so much fun yesterday it’s going to be difficult to run it next year. Maybe the solution is to run it with a microphone and get those beautiful stories as I run. WHAT A DAY. One man, Colin, who had just finished his 44th Comrades Marathon said, “If South Africans and South Africa could be like this every day, where we all love and support each other no matter who we are and what country we come from, it would be the best place on earth.” Congratulations to every single runner who lined up at the start yesterday.
