Bloodshed in Tranquil Leitrim: Gardaí Detain Man (30s) After Deadly Knife Attack A man in his 30s has been arrested following the death of a man in his 40s in a suspected stabbing at a house in Co Leitrim. Gardaí were called to a residential property in Arderry, a remote townland in Drumreilly between Carrigallen and Ballinamore, shortly after 9pm on Thursday. Officers found the victim unresponsive. Emergency services treated him at the scene, but he was pronounced dead a short time later. Investigators believe the death resulted from a stabbing.The man in his 30s is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in the county. A garda spokesperson confirmed that detectives from the Sligo-Leitrim crime functional area have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the death. A senior investigating officer has been appointed, and the local coroner and State Pathologist’s Office have been notified. Local Fianna Fáil councillor Paddy O’Rourke described Arderry as a “very rural… very peaceful area” with relatively few residents. The deceased’s body remains at the preserved scene for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. Investigations are continuing.
