Another injunction granted by a state court enjoining an NCAA eligibility decision. The NCAA refused to not court his JUCO seasons as seasons of DI competition. NCAA has a problem on its hands since it granted the Pavia waiver but now refuses to do so going forward.
Clemson WR Tristan Smith was granted a temporary injunction against the NCAA on Friday, making him eligible for the 2026 college football season. Posted 24 catches for 239 yards in 2025 for the Tigers. on3.com/college/clemson-tige…

After watching that Texas Tech video from last night, I have some free crisis PR advice. Stop trying to make everyone like you. No one is going to change their mind. Your fans love you. Everyone else is mad at you. That’s how it’s going to be for a minute.

Do people at Texas Tech think the rest of America is stupid? I’m honestly at a loss to find an explanation for a PR strategy this bad. Holy moly.
"It's crazy...because it's not murder, it's not beating somebody..." Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire defends his QB Brendan Sorsby, who's under fire for gambling on his own team's football games:

Texas Tech has a choice. No one is forcing the Red Raiders to play Brendan Sorsby. They are not backed into a corner. They can take his recovery seriously and support him by keeping him around/engaged with the program but NOT play him in games. It shouldn't be a tough call.

In courts from coast to coast, the only way a person can avoid accountability for their actions based on their mental health is to prove that they were legally insane. But in Lubbock, Texas, a billionaire backer and a warm, fuzzy letter from a shrink is apparently all you need.

I know Texas Tech is in a spot no school wants to be in but I'm genuinely surprised at how poorly they have handled this. With the money they have this might be the worst PR campaign we have seen

In a 90-min hearing today, an NCAA attorney argued against a challenge brought by plaintiff lawyers who claim multimedia rights partners, apparel brands and corporate sponsors should *not* be deemed “associated entities,” - a move that would likely uncap the athlete comp market.

Under Texas law, courts defer to the internal affairs and rules of private associations and will not substitute the court’s judgment for the association's decision (such as membership revocation, rule-making, or expulsion) unless the association failed to follow its own bylaws or acted in bad faith. So how does Texas Tech get around that? ⬇️
A super majority of the Big 12 directors (schools) already have almost unlimited discretion to sanction Texas Tech. What’s more, they also have the authority to amend the Big 12 Bylaws at any time to specifically require the immediate suspension or dismissal of any school which knowingly plays an athlete who has admitted to placing bets on his own team.
