Function calls existed in 2023–MCP is a way to dynamically fetch the ‘tools’ array in your API calls to model providers.
Tool names and descriptions are prepended to your query.

Nice writeup. Seems to also work in forks whose upstream commits have been removed via interactive rebase. I know in the past people have turned to re-writing history as a means of creds-in-code remediation. Turns out that doesn't fully eliminate the risk.
