This is what C.O.O.L. is. A room built to share offensive line ideas. If you have something you need an answer to, there’s somebody in this room who has been there before. The 43rd Annual C.O.O.L. Clinic brings together NFL, college, and championship-level OL coaches for three days of teaching, fellowship, and football. May 14–16 OL coaches, get in the room. mushroom-society.com/cool-cl…

Master the basics
Kirk Ferentz — still very much involved in the day-to-day coaching at Iowa. Just a small look into what he does with the offense, but man, for a guy who just turned 70 last fall, KF sure appears to have not lost a beat.

Offensive line coaches know the deal. Kept in the dark. Fed garbage. Still continue to flourish. C.O.O.L. Clinic 2026 is built for the coaches in the trenches. May 14–16 Check out the lineup: mushroom-society.com/cool-cl…

Everyone is chasing overtime hockey The rest are debatable but they’re second place at best

I love football so much, but I genuinely don't think it can compete with the atmosphere of baseball

So if they can’t cut the puller DBs are helpless lol ? I trust college DB coaches who are making hundreds of thousands of dollars could come up with an alternate plan that doesn’t involve trying to stand your ground and take him on This looks like that scene from Final Destination where the girl steps in front of the bus
I hate this. In the past, a DB with a 100lb size disadvantage was able to protect himself and cut a lineman who was pulling on the perimeter. Now he can't, in the name of "safety." If I were coaching offense, I'd run toss crack all day long.

We use the Crowther sled -chutes and boards almost daily We also do EDD vs a body IMO the Crowther is the best tool there is for learning the “feeling” of trigger step and lift IMO working outside zone on a 5 man sled is pointless Both sectors have a use and are valuable tools
There are 2 types of OL Coaches these days: Those that still use Chutes, Boards, and Sleds, and those that do not. Which side are you on?

Excellent breakdown Learning how to watch film and what to watch for is a simple way to improve your game

What’s up brother! So the number 1 thing I looked at was any keys that movement will be coming. These front 7s stunt and slant at such a high rate now. So whether that be a DL’s stance having a tell that he’s going to go lateral first, or something like the LBs lining up at different levels and they are tight (then I’m expecting AX blitz). Even something as simple as noticing safeties outside of the hashes (could be a tell that Chop CB blitz is coming). But finding those little tendencies that could give you a head start on what the defense was going to do was big for me Another thing I’d always do is chart the top moves that the DL use. So I’d write out “spin move” “club swim” “long arm” “dbl hand swipe” etc, and then I’d tally how much they use each move. That would allow me to go into the game knowing I’m likely going to see these 3 moves from this guy (most guys never really had more than 3 moves in CFB). But also would note tendencies in obvious passing situations. Some DL have a very specific move they always go to when they know it’s a pass. And I would use all this info to then build out my plan vs them. The biggest thing I figured out was I needed to ‘mess with the pass rushers rhythm’. Meaning that they have a plan when the ball is about to snap on each play, so if I keep giving them the same exact 45 angle pass set, they will start to time that up. So it’s so important to mix up jump sets, vertical sets, etc… so I would get to the point that if I knew a DT was a big speed to bullrush guy on obvious passing downs, I’ll plan to just jump set him and not even give him a chance to build up that speed. Hope this wasn’t too long 😂 I absolutely love talking ball in this manner. I could go on for days!

Here’s a Great way to get “live reps” with no pads Controlled 1 v 1 Pass Pro ▪️Give OL a spot to protect 🔻DL can’t bull rush ▪️Start Drill with hand refit drill 🔻Rush starts on coach command Also a Great drill for OL to work on recovering from a disadvantage

100% believe Football is the greatest team sport But sudden death OT in a meaningful hockey game is unmatched for drama and excitement Incredible

This is why you better preach being physical and violent to your OL Sports aren’t nice- you don’t have to be nice on the field- you can be as mean and nasty as you want as long as it’s with in the rules Pass pro- run block- doesn’t matter It’s all about your intent Society has gone soft but your OL better know there is a different expectation of them once they cross the white line
"I don't see them moving people... offensive line play is as soft as I've seen in college football." @davidpollack47 pulling no punches talking about current OL play in CFB 👀

5th/6th grade group was in again last night The great part of working with young kids is you can usually see improvement quickly The 2 biggest challenges are ▪️Making OL drills fun enough they stay engaged ▪️using coaching cues they can relate to They like “boxing” the heavy bags -so last night we worked on punch/punch timing on the heavy bags They figured it out quickly and did a good job
