Studying for my final (hopefully) exam, after a long 6 years of balancing work/study/oncall/family for the very worthwhile journey of becoming an @ACRRM Rural Generalist. Good luck to all those sitting #StAMPs this weekend, 🤞 for a 1st attempt pass! #Exams #rural #almost

This is devastating for Coonabarabran, but sadly not unique. Australia's entire culture around #ruralhealth & #primarycare is unattractive to junior doctors ☹️ GP shortage could quadruple patient wait times after central NSW clinic left with one doctor abc.net.au/news/2023-07-21/g…

I'm one of the docs leaving Coona (a registrar). My dream job and a great town to work in. However there is a lack of flexibility and support from the LHD which has stopped my partner (crit care RN) from moving here so after a year living alone I had to make a tough decision.

I recently had a yarn with #DestinationMedicinePoscast about living and working in Central Australia, #RuralHealth, Preventative Healthcare, and all of the supports that have helped me get to where I am today @UNSWMedicine @RuralDocSA destinationmedicine.com.au/p…

Detected new AF whilst checking his blood pressure. Prevented the stroke he would’ve had. Convinced a woman to have her overdue Pap smear and she’s just had a hysterectomy for cervical ca. GP work isn’t invisible. We save lives every day. @ACRRM @RACGP

Top 10 reasons to live and work as a #RuralGeneralist in a remote community. Tell me if you agree or have extras to add. @ACRRM @QldRGP @RuralHC_Aus @DoverMarian

9. Relaxing rural lifestyle. Now this might not be for everyone, but both my Husband and I agree, we are more relaxed in our tiny remote town, than anywhere else. No noisy cars, no traffic, no crowds. Instead peace, tranquility and a slower pace of life. Time to enjoy family.

10. Unrivalled continuity of care, in GP, in ED, because I really get to know my pts. Many are my friends, the town is too small for this not to happen. I am blessed with so much laughter joy in my consults rooms. I truly love being a #RuralGeneralist
