This Bible was carried by soldier Francis Merrifield of Ipswich, Mass., during the Battle of Bunker Hill, which was fought #onthisday in 1775. Merrifield wrote inside the front and back covers, thanking God for sparing his life.

Created in recognition of America’s Semiquincentennial, the 2026 Presence of Memories Tour offers a small group of guests the opportunity to walk the sacred grounds where history was made.
This September, guests will visit American military cemeteries and memorials across France, including Normandy, Brittany, and Suresnes, as well as sites that invite reflection on the broader human cost of war. Throughout the journey, distinguished military experts and historians will provide interpretation and insight developed specifically for this program.
The tour also includes private cultural experiences such as a visit to Mont Saint-Michel, first-class accommodations and exquisite cuisine, personally curated by ABMF.
