Our veteran-owned film project - dedicated to the nation’s Gold Star Families - is committed to highlighting the immense courage, faith, grit, loyalty, love, sacrifice, and wisdom that were required to achieve American independence. In the days ahead, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and our beloved nation’s founding, it is our solemn duty to keep the sacred fire of liberty burning for future generations and America, as a noble “shining city on a hill”. We must never forget our heroic origins. Please visit 1777.org to learn how you can help this overdue movie become a reality.

What does it take to be a Revolutionary War reenactor? For The Atlantic's "Unfinished Revolution" issue last year, @caityweaver traveled across New England and to New York’s Fort Ticonderoga, put on period clothing, and shot a musket to find out: theatln.tc/kbw5Y8o5

Today, most Colonial-era taverns are gone, but as our country turns 250, a few stalwart pubs remain, holding the hopes and stories of the Revolutionary Americans who fought to form a democratic nation. bit.ly/47VkTFq

Washington's flag at his HQ in Valley Forge.
General George Washington's HQ flag doesn't get enough recognition and attention; those thirteen stars on that blue field? Legendary. Stay tuned... @fedsoc

#ThisWeekinHistory As the war expanded, George Washington faced one of leadership’s hardest challenges: choosing the right people for positions of command. Considering General John Sullivan for a major appointment in Canada, Washington offered a candid assessment, noting his abilities but also his “foibles” and an eagerness to be popular.

The official 2026 Wreaths Across America theme is: Remember Me. "While we often honor service members collectively, each one has a name, a family and a story. Their sacrifices are deeply personal, and their stories shape the freedoms we enjoy today.” #RememberMe

Besides our flag, the bald eagle is perhaps the most emblematic symbol of American freedom and democracy. 🇺🇸🦅 These are just a few examples of this majestic bird soaring within spaces on the U.S. Capitol campus: aoc.gov/explore-capitol-camp… #America250

This Bible was carried by soldier Francis Merrifield of Ipswich, Mass., during the Battle of Bunker Hill, which was fought #onthisday in 1775. Merrifield wrote inside the front and back covers, thanking God for sparing his life. From our collection: bit.ly/3xuWnrz

Created in recognition of America’s Semiquincentennial, the 2026 Presence of Memories Tour offers a small group of guests the opportunity to walk the sacred grounds where history was made. This September, guests will visit American military cemeteries and memorials across France, including Normandy, Brittany, and Suresnes, as well as sites that invite reflection on the broader human cost of war. Throughout the journey, distinguished military experts and historians will provide interpretation and insight developed specifically for this program. The tour also includes private cultural experiences such as a visit to Mont Saint-Michel, first-class accommodations and exquisite cuisine, personally curated by ABMF. We now have only three spaces remaining. Learn more and request a private briefing: abmf.org/cemetery-tour/ #WeRemember #America250
