Today a relative came over. He was angry about an apparent overpayment of unemployment insurance - from 2 years ago. He wanted me to ‘fix’ it.
Of course I couldn’t do it. The office isn’t even open. But he had another problem - he ran over some glass and his tire was flat. His car has one of those internal computers that tells you all about it. So he couldn’t even fix his tire on a Sunday. We did wind up fixing it. It should have taken 60 minutes. We needed 4 hours. All of this was rooted in ‘automation.’
I don’t think most people realize what life is like if you are not a white collar type with $$ in the bank. It is very bad, very rough.
