I find a lot of analysis like this frankly insulting, as if 18 years of Israeli occupation was a piece of cake, as if the current war hasn’t upended the lives of 100,000s of people, but hey all this Israeli slaughter/advances is just vibes, “strategically” it’s losing
While symbolically a blow for Hezbollah & territorial state of Lebanon, Israel taking Beaufort castle is not exactly a victory:
- occupation of S Lebanon was a quagmire in 1982-2000, gave rise to Hezbollah
- Lebanon army not fighting
- Hezbollah thrives on insurgency wars
