Yesterday the BoD acting President, Adrian Cohen, released a statement claiming that event organisers had 'refuted claims that the event is marketing real estate over the Green Line' and then made out that those protesting the event were motivated by a mixture of false pretence and Jew hate. Today we have evidence proving beyond any doubt that brochures for West Bank settlements were handed out and properties in the illegal settlements of Ma’ale Adumim and Givat Ze’ev in the occupied West Bank, as well as Ramat Eshkol and Givat HaMatos in occupied East Jerusalem. Properties in 'Judea and Samaria' were being directly offered to attendees by companies at the event. Will we now get an apology from the @BoardofDeputies acting President and will they publicaly disassociate themselves from this event offering properties in Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory that even our own UK government accepts as being illegal under international law? jewishnews.co.uk/claims-broc…
We are deeply disturbed at the wholly unjustified protest called for this morning outside a synagogue. We are calling on the police to ensure such protests are kept a significant distance from places of worship to prevent intimidation to members of the Jewish community.

People are sometimes blinded by nostalgia. Yeah, Roger Cook did expose some crooks. But a lot of it was the equivalent of tabloid TV. It followed all the moral panics of the time, drugs, raves and they claimed Colin Stagg was responsible for Rachel Nickell's murder. He wasn't.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to not let the work experience kid do the social media lads

Am reminded in the aftermath of the panic about Child's Play 3 and the (non) involvement of the film in the murder of James Bulger that the Tories seemed to be proposing the banning of the video market outright. Pretty much a modern equivalent for under-16s from Labour today.

You know, much as I despise Twatterface and Dixon, I think I actually prefer them to Champion and McCoist and the absurd bollocks they're nattering just at the game threatens to develop into a football match

Roy reading Keir's tribute
Roy Hattersley was a giant of the Labour movement. Through decades of service, including as deputy leader and a minister, he never lost his belief in a more equal Britain. My thoughts are with his wife Maggie and his family.

For the NS, I wrote about the recent spate of racist rioting in the UK -- and, in response, argue the left needs to cohere a Zoroastarian politics of bon vivants for Britain's post-industrial noise and pansexual future
I don’t usually advocate violence but in this case, I’d settle for cohering a policy of the cops thrashing rioting fascists in the head with batons

Ban under 16s and boomers from social media. And hacks. Especially hacks
You’re going to see a lot in your X timeline about how the social media ban is unworkable and illiberal - and it will be one the most obvious examples of how social media skews debate. But it will be one of the most popular things the government is doing theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

I can't help but feel that your average punter might be more inclined to support cuts elsewhere to raise defence spending if the people chomping at the bit to do so weren't such obvious fantasists.
Lord Alan West: "Its all very well having nice spending for breakfast for children at school.. but if that means.. you have Russians stomping down your streets shooting the children who would have been having breakfast.." Russians killing your kids. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?

Solidarity yes, but the military industrial complex doesn't do anything without ulterior motives. If we're genuinely saying that there's nothing we can realistically do to stop Russia, even if the process will take years, maybe decades, then shouldn't that be made clear?

Or I suppose hell, maybe the entire last 80 years of military alliances and detente, theory and supposed independent nuclear deterrents might completely collapse and the Russians will be raping us in our beds, but in that case I don't think increased spending will stop it anyway.

This is a fine example of war populism used as an excuse to jump Starmer’s sinking ship. Russian threat to Britain is a self-fulfilling prophecy promoted by incompetent and irresponsible members of the establishment through Britain’s reckless involvement in a conflict its political class doesn’t understand and is not trying to - it’s a pure wag the dog situation, created originally by Johnson’s government to distract attention from the Brexit debacle and Covid party scandal.
🚨 BREAKING: John Healey has resigned as Defence Secretary over Keir Starmer's lack of funding for defence
