Richard Rodriguez to face Mo Vaughn & Vaughn blasted a 3-run home run. The Red Sox cruised to the 7-2 win to take a 3-0 series lead. Steve Avery allowed 2 runs over 7 innings to pick up the win.

Darryl Kile wins the Silver Slugger at pitcher during his first season in Colorado. Kile was named first on 11 of the ballots. For the season Kile batted .328 with a .778 OPS & drove in 10 runs.

Barry Bonds wins the 3rd Silver Slugger in the outfield for the National League. Bonds had a huge first half before a somewhat mediocre 2nd half. Nonetheless, he batted .354 41 151 1.151 with 200 hits on the strength of that first half.

Sammy Sosa also wins a Silver Slugger in the outfield. Despite fading down the stretch Sosa hit .312 74 162 1.060 with 207 hits for the season.
