Hey Mike, let me give everyone a brief run down of what’s going on right now since you’ve decided to, as of right now, sell out to the establishment and go on your merry way with misleading Hoosiers.
This is going to be a brief non-fiction story of what I like to call “What I promised, Versus What I Am Actually Getting Done.”
Btw, this isn’t me jumping ship, I’m still a Mike Braun fan… but we need to call him out for coming up substantially short on this.
Hoosiers voted for meaningful and significant reduction that Governor Mike Braun promised on the campaign trail, not $575 over three years like SB1 does…which btw, can barely help a family buy one week of groceries with a year’s worth of property tax cut…about $191 per year…
Hoosiers voted for the elimination of business personal property tax that Governor Braun promised on the campaign trail, not raising the exemption threshold and adjusting depreciation like SB1 does.
Hoosiers voted for $1.3 billion in one year that Governor Braun promised on the campaign trail, not $1.2 billion over three years like SB1 does. ($400,000,000 per year, chump change compared to what he promised).
Hoosiers voted to protect local government and school funding that Governor Braun promised on the campaign trail, not the $800,000,000 in school funding cuts and $1,5 billion in local government cuts over three years that SB1 gives.
Hoosiers voted to avoid major tax shifts, an idea that Governor Braun promised on the campaign trail, not allowing local income taxes to rise to 2.9% to offset losses like SB1 does.
Hoosiers voted for the substantial homestead credits that Governor Braun promised on the campaign trail, not the lousy penny-pinching 10% homestead credits, capping at $300 per year, with $150 extra for Seniors, and $250 for veterans which is what the SB1 does.
Lastly, Hoosiers voted for transformative tax overhaul that Governor Braun promised on the campaign trail, not the 350-page bloated bill with legal jargon the average person cannot understand like SB1 offers.
Mike, you have an opportunity to prove to the People just three months in that you are who you said you would be on the campaign trail, and if you want to do that, you will veto SB1.
This is an opportunity for you to stand up to RINOs in the state legislature and say “Listen, Hoosiers demanded better of me, and I need something better than this [SB1]…
If you veto, you stand up for your voters.
If you sign, you stand up for the establishment.
Time will tell
If you’re reading this and concerned, please call Mike Braun’s office first thing in the morning. It takes less time to ask him to reconsider his opinion on SB1 than it did reading this. 317-822-8240
