Oppo has the audacity to use a plastic back on their $2000 folding phone! Adding a glass back would cost some $3. Is that too much to ask for? 😑

What is the smartphone launch you were most hyped about? I'll go first, S21 Ultra.

This is when Samsung really cared about us. They fixed everything wrong with S20 Ultra: battery life, autofocus, thermals, zoom, hdr, price, qhd 120hz and brought many things to the table. Unfortunately they don't make such upgrades these anymore.

What do you think? 😒

And that completely makes sense. 3x crop from a 1/1.3" main sensor is exactly 1/3.9", so a 1/3.94" telephoto was completely useless. Hope 5x gets stronger.
Early Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra rumors are in: that often mocked 3x telephoto, famous for being tiny and underwhelming, has finally changed. It didn't get stronger. It didn't get weaker. It's simply gone.😂

Crop is actually better, 1/3.9" f/1.4 vs 1/3.94" f/2.4

Hot take: Vivo's 35mm approach is the most clever one. 1/1.12" sensor is 25% smaller, hence 25% cheaper. For longer focal length, you need more glass but not as expensive as sensor. Still the actual focal length is higher, so you get tighter frame and better bokeh being cheaper.

Repair parts price suggests 10x telephoto is the most expensive camera in Find X9 Ultra, even surapssing the huge main (1/1.12") and 3x (1/1.28") modules! No wonder it makes it one of the most expensive phones in its class.

Normies are now crying why OPPO has to make such an expensive device but if you are clever, you have to thank God how much better of a phone are you getting for the same price, in Europe.

It's 2026 and you can't still preview a message on Android. They will copy all the bullshit stuff like dynamic island, camera plateau shamelessly but never the useful ones.

Remember S4 zoom and how bulky it was? It had 10x optical zoom with 1/2.33" sensor at f/6.3 aperture. Now OPPO has managed to fit this 10x with similar sensor size and much wider f/3.5 aperture in this small circle. That's how far smartphone optics and engineering has come.

This huge block covered with metal is the battery of MacBook Neo (36.5Wh), roughly 10000mAh equivalent. Now think how crazy it is that Chinese brands have managed to fit this capacity in a 6.7" phone body no thicker than 8mm!
