Information on a scholarship to be established in memory of our friend Bonnie. Please help us keep her love of supporting teachers of literacy by contributing if you feel so inclined.
There has been a lot of interest from individuals and local councils in establishing a scholarship in memory of our great leader, friend and lover of literacy, Bonnie Schmeltz. We want to ensure her legacy of supporting teachers of literacy continues.
Friends, @somlareads SoMLA has created a place for you to share your memories about Bonnie so we can continue to remember her. somla.online/blog-for-chair-…

Very sad to report that our past president and longtime @AACountySchools educational leader, Bonnie Schmeltz, has passed away. She made a difference in the lives of students and teachers across our county and in the state.

When the pandemic first hit and isolation began, I found my creativity sapped. I was unable to write. Now, many weeks in, I am beginning to feel the opposite. I am writing again as a means of escape. Writing is a refuge from the horrors of the daily news. A daily grounding.

Our latest blog-News from our State Chapter, @somlareads aacolitchapter.com/post/a-no…

Unfortunately, we will need to cancel this year's mini- conference due to a lack of interest. We simply didn't have enough people registered to make the event viable.
Our Young Author's Contests are underway. This is a great way for students in Gr. 1-12 to show off the writing skills they are learning. Rules for entering and cover sheets can be downloaded from our website: aacolitchapter.com.
