We're rallying TODAY, 6/11, so Asian New Yorkers can get the legal services they deserve! Underfunding the #RISENetwork means denying thousands of immigrant New Yorkers access to the legal support they need. @NYCCouncil must fully fund RISE at $3.5 million in FY27 Budget.

When immigrant families are forced to wait months for legal help, the impacts can devastate families. 30% of NYC's non-citizens are Asian, yet community-based legal providers lack the resources to meet demand. @NYCCouncil must fully fund the #RISENetwork at $3.5 million.

It was great to join the @AAFederation yesterday and connect with so many organizations doing critical work across New York City. As one of the founders of the Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes (@stophatenyc), I’m grateful to be back supporting efforts to address hate, bias, and discrimination. Community safety starts with community—and these organizations are leading the way.

Yesterday, we joined @BKBpReynoso to demand action on the SNAP theft crisis. Our member, Mr. Chan, shared how his son lost $500 to EBT skimming. With reimbursements gone, families have no safety net. We need secure chip cards & a state-funded reimbursement program NOW!

May is NYC Small Business Month, but supporting our neighborhood businesses is a year-round commitment. That's why I met up with @cmshanelth, who has been fighting to make it easier to start, grow and operate in NYC, and we brought in some extra help: Poorna Jagannathan, Asif Ali, and Saagar Shaikh to help spread the word. Whether you're opening a barbershop, ice cream shop, bodega, or anything in between, @NYC_SBS is here to support you. 📞 Call the SBS Hotline: 888-SBS-4NYC (888-727-4692)

Love seeing @NYCMayor support NYC's small businesses! Asian-owned businesses generated $121 BILLION for NYC in 2017. And as the mayor's REP highlighted, language access has to be at the heart of equity. Hoping to seeing these new programs be accessible in Asian languages!

NEWS: Trump is methodically stripping immigrants — including many with legal status — of their ability to function in daily life, cutting them off from everything from jobs to day-care subsidies. The goal is to transform how welcoming the U.S. is to immigrants their families.

Who was Tye Leung Schulze? This #AAPIHM, as immigrants navigate unfair systems and racist policies, often in a language they don't understand, how can we honor Shchulze's legacy and ensure access and dignity for everyone?

Tye Leung Schulze was the first Chinese woman hired by the federal government. Her job? Translating for Chinese immigrants detained on Angel Island. She helped them navigate an immigration system designed to keep them out, offering compassion and understanding.

We had a great advocacy day with our members speaking with City Council about RISE—our legal services network for Asian immigrants! The RISE network coordinates multilingual legal support for Asian NYers all across the city so that our families can get the help they need.
