Today, we recognize both Global #FattyLiverDay and #WorldMASHDay while embracing the updated #liverdisease nomenclature. AASLD is proud to have helped shape the international consensus that led to the adoption of more accurate, patient-centered terminology. What was once known as #fattyliverdisease is now part of the broader category of steatotic liver disease #SLD, including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease #MASLD, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis #MASH. The updated terminology supports more precise research, diagnosis, and communication in #hepatology. Learn more about the nonmenclature change: aasld.org/new-masld-nomencla…

🔥 HOT TOPIC 📗 @HEP_Journal Potentially practice-changing for patients with #MASLD and #type2diabetes, this study found that a #GLP-1 receptor agonist–SGLT-2 inhibitor combination was associated with a lower risk of major adverse liver and cardiovascular outcomes compared with either therapy alone. The study also highlights an innovative use of emulation trial methodology to evaluate potential clinical efficacy in the absence of prospective randomized trials. The horror stories in hepatology don't have to be inevitable. They happen when the field stops talking to itself. The Liver Meeting is where the right people get in the same room to keep those conversations going. ‼️ Reminder: #TLM26 dates have shifted to Thursday, Nov. 5 - Monday, Nov. 9 — designed to accommodate attendees observing Diwali. #Hepatology #AASLD

AASLD is deeply concerned by the May 29 Executive Order directing a review of U.S. childhood vaccine recommendations, including #hepatitisA and #hepatitisB vaccination policies. Vaccination remains one of the most effective tools for preventing #liverdisease. AASLD strongly supports maintaining evidence-based hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccination recommendations, which have helped dramatically reduce infections, chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver cancer in the U.S. Protecting children from preventable infectious diseases must remain a national priority. Spontaneous HDV suppression is rare, but it is predictable, and that changes how treatment timing gets approached. New data from 1,610 patients identifies the key markers: lower baseline HBsAg, HDV RNA, and ALT, plus male sex and diabetes. Research like this is driving hepatology forward. Join the global community advancing it at #TLM26 this November in Denver. Full study in Hepatology: bit.ly/4nY4qXQ #HepatitisD #HDV #Hepatology #AASLD
