Honored to have been featured earlier this year by the
@acgme Rural and Underserved GME team in their “Pathways to Practice: Stories from Underserved in Medicine”, where I shared my journey from working in rural and underserved communities in Argentina to training in the South Bronx and East Brooklyn.
That story was very meaningful to me because underserved medicine has shaped the way I see medicine, prevention, health equity, and the responsibility we have as physicians to serve where we are needed most.
This week, I was grateful to meet with the
@acgme Rural and Underserved GME team, including Laney McDougal, Director of Rural and Underserved GME, and Dr Lorenzo P., Senior Vice President, Osteopathic Accreditation, for a thoughtful one-hour conversation about the important work being done to strengthen graduate medical education in rural and underserved communities.
We discussed the role of GME in improving access to care, supporting physician workforce development, and creating opportunities for physicians serving communities facing shortages. We also spoke about the important role that many international medical graduates play in rural and underserved areas across the United States.
I was grateful for the opportunity to share more about
@ProjectImg , our mission, and the work we are doing to support international medical graduates, residents, fellows, and physicians committed to serving patients and communities in need.
Excited for what is ahead, including potential collaborations, webinars, podcasts, and educational initiatives focused on empowering physicians and strengthening care in underserved communities 💪🩵🤍
