NEW CAMPAIGN 🚨 Right now, people are pushed into poverty when councils send in bailiffs for council tax debt. But there’s another way. Together, we can stop this. Together, we can have dignity not debt. Together, we can make Britain Bailiff Free👇 🔗 acorntheunion.org.uk/bailiff…

📸 It’s been a busy week for our union! From stopping evictions, fighting against section 21s, securing compensation and repairs, warding off bailiffs, and a huge FOUR wins in one week for @ACORN_Bristol we’d have to say it’s been a job well done. Can’t stop won’t stop!

🚨 @AcornBradford MEMBERS ARE ON RENT STRIKE🚨 Members in an apartment block in Bradford have been dealing with issues for years including sky high energy bills, damp, mould, broken lifts, and even security issues so bad that someone broke into a flat and died in there. This week we’ve been disrupting viewings and letting prospective tenants know exactly what they’d be dealing with if they chose to move in, and members have declared a rent strike until their issues are resolved. The tenants, united, will never be defeated!

We were happy to show our support for this proposal🏠 It’s time to kick developer donors out of politics.
Housing campaigners representing thousands back my call to ban developer donations. Corporate donors don’t hand out cash lightly, they want results. The housing crisis is too serious to let big money tilt the balance to greed over need. Kick developer cash out of politics.

Was that your policy as chancellor? You did a good job of it if so!

“Vulnerable families including women fleeing abuse are being illegally “dumped” hundreds of miles away by London councils.” This horrific practice needs to stop. People are being forced out of their communities and away from their support networks. theguardian.com/society/2026…

This is the reality of landlordism. They claim to ‘provide housing’ when the reality is that they hoard housing and simply use it to line their pockets.
My last rent increase was because the landlord noticed that the market rate for the area had gone up Not because his costs went up, but because other landlords were charging more in my area and my landlord felt left out and thought I should pay him more for the same thing

Marie and her children faced years of leaks, mold and infestations. In June 2025, her ceiling collapsed, exposing asbestos. ACORN went to the council offices and they agreed a schedule of repairs Join ACORN acorntheunion.org.uk/join/ #Lambeth

“People that you would never think would need to use a food bank, you see coming in. I see lots of people who I know work full-time here.” This is what a broken system looks like.

📢 You’ve been working solely to pay your landlord since January. Today marks Cost of Rent Day for the average renter in London. That’s the day renters have finally earned enough to cover a year’s rent. (🧵…)

Tenants across the country are just one rent rise away from being forced out of their homes, their communities and increasingly onto the streets. For too many people, that reality is already here.

It doesn’t have to be like this. Renters need security. Renters need affordability. Rent controls are the only way we put the breaks on the vicious spiral we’re facing.

🚨The rent strike in ON. 🚨 Solidarity with @AcornBradford members standing strong and starting their rent strike! ✊ After repeatedly raising concerns about conditions in their building, residents are turning up the pressure. When tenants stand together, they’re impossible to ignore.
