The fire alarm at the Early Childhood Center sounded at 3:02 p.m. today, resulting in students in the after-school program and staff briefly evacuating the building. Students and staff have re-entered the building and normal operations have resumed.

Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities program participants & ACPS custodial staff were briefly evacuated due to a report of the smell of gas in building. Alexandria Fire Department arrived on site to investigate this report and cleared the building for safe return by 8:10 p.m.

We know how lucky we are to have Mr. Richard Thomas for our amazing crossing guard. He makes sure our students and staff get to school safely, and he ALWAYS greets everyone with a smile and a wave. We are so happy he was selected as Virginia's Most Outstanding Crossing Guard.
