What an absolute disgrace. A FIFA-certified referee being denied entry to the United States purely because he is Somali. The World Cup is meant to bring people together. This is racism, plain and simple. Shameful. bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

Omar Artan didn’t just make the #FIFAWorldCup, he made history as the first Somali referee to get there, and as #Africa’s best. That milestone stands no matter what. So sorry to see this, Omar. You reached the summit of your profession and inspired a generation back home just by getting there, and being kept off the pitch you earned doesn’t change that. This won’t be the end of your story on the world stage. The world stands with you as one family, wishing you resilience now and many more major finals to come. Solidarity. #Somalia

We attest Ambassador Alper’s positive contribution to Somalia. He will remain in our hearts for years to come. Thank you Ambassador for your tireless efforts to build strong bridges.
Somalia has made significant progress in security, stability, development, and state-building in recent years, with Türkiye playing a key role in this journey. As Türkiye’s Ambassador to Mogadishu, Alper Aktaş made important contributions to strengthening the Türkiye–Somalia strategic partnership. He played a notable role in advancing Somalia’s security, strengthening state institutions, and deepening cooperation against terrorism, helping turn Türkiye’s friendship and solidarity with Somalia into tangible results on the ground. @TC_MogadisuBE As he begins his new assignment, I extend my sincere gratitude to Ambassador Alper Aktaş for his valuable contributions to Somalia and wish him continued success.

Just denied entry to the U.S.? Omar Artan — a globally admired, world-class referee and a hero in Somalia — was turned away at America’s door. Not a threat. Not a criminal. A man who commands respect on football pitches worldwide. This isn't security. This is stigma. Shameful. Canada admires him and offers him to visit anytime. We appreciate Canada’s generosity and respect.

Dear Hon. Abib, you know this is shamelessly incorrect. What evidence do you have? Why are you attacking the brotherly state of Turkiye? We are indebted to Turkiye for its generosity and strategic cooperation with Somalia. None of these lies will change the direction of the peoples of the two countries. Long live President Erdogan.
Indictment: President Erdoğan and the Turkish Government Are Guilty of Enabling Massacre for Neo-Colonial Oil Theft – Blood on Your Hands President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Government of Turkey, You are directly, criminally, and shamelessly complicit in the massacre, urban warfare, and mass displacement that exploded in Mogadishu on the evening of June 3, 2026. Your blind, unwavering support for the most corrupt dictator - former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, a power-hungry sub-sub-clan tyrant - has nothing to do with security and everything to do with your greedy neo-colonial grab for Somalia’s natural resources. You arm him, train him, shield him, and look the other way while he uses your weapons to crush opposition and stay in power forever by brute force. Somali blood is on your hands for 90% of our oil and gas. According to the UNHCR Protection of Civilians Note (June 4, 2026): On the evening of 3 June 2026, intense armed confrontations erupted in Mogadishu between Somali Federal Government forces and an opposition-affiliated armed group. The hostilities originated in the vicinity of Dabka Junction and expanded into densely populated districts including Howlwadaag, Cabdicasiis, Hodan, Wardhiigley, and parts of Kaaraan. Although active hostilities have subsided, the protection and humanitarian impacts remain acute. Preliminary data indicates approximately 12,500 households displaced. At least 13 fatalities and 189 injuries. Affected populations include women, children, older persons, persons with disabilities, refugees, and asylum seekers. Civilians were unable to evacuate in several locations. Families terrorized, homes destroyed, lives shattered - all to keep your corrupt puppet in power. Turkish weapons and equipment directly used in these atrocities last night: •  Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı armed drones - deployed for targeting and strikes over civilian neighborhoods. •  Turkish tanks, armored personnel carriers (APCs), and military vehicles - used in direct assaults on opposition areas. •  Heavy artillery, RPGs, logistical support, and elite Gorgor commandos trained at your Camp TURKSOM base. You supplied all of it knowing full well it would be turned against Somali civilians and legitimate opposition leaders demanding constitutional order. Your deliberate blindness makes you active participants in these crimes. Your disgusting motive is crystal clear - neo-colonial resource plunder. You give blind support to this most corrupt dictator Hassan Sheikh Mohamud precisely to secure your predatory hydrocarbons deal that steals up to 90% of Somalia’s oil and gas revenuesthrough shameless cost-recovery scams. You don’t care about Somali lives, stability, or democracy - only about filling Turkish pockets with our black gold while propping up a tyrant who sells out his country. This is not cooperation. This is modern colonialism with drones and blood. Legal Consequences You Will Face: •  Direct complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Supplying weapons and training with full knowledge they would be used for urban repression and civilian displacement exposes President Erdoğan and Turkish officials to personal ICC arrest warrants, trials, and imprisonment. •  Investigations by the UN Human Rights Council and international tribunals into Turkey’s role in the June 3-4 Mogadishu massacres and forced displacement. Erdoğan and Turkey: You are not allies. You are blood-stained neo-colonial exploiters. Your blind support for this corrupt dictator has turned Mogadishu into a graveyard and displacement camp so you can loot 90% of our natural resources. Every displaced child, every bullet from your drones, every tear from Somali mothers screams your name. The Somali people reject this Turkish-backed tyranny. The world is watching.

Let there be no confusion: deploying heavily armed fighters within proximity of Somalia’s seat of government is not an act of self-defense—it is an act of intimidation and a direct threat to the state’s authority. Mogadishu’s streets belong to its citizens, not to private armies. If you claim innocence when law enforcement disarms your militias, then prove it by never arming them in the first place. Violence near the State House is a red line. There is no “peaceful militia.” There is no “innocent armed group.”

#SomaliaStandswithTurkiye @TheVillaSomalia Total fabrication. Tactics, lies and fake information to undermine Somalia’s peace and stability will longer be accepted at face value. We stand on guard to discredit and deny them to be trusted.
A shameful moment for Somalia 🇸🇴 Hassan Sheikh Mohamud deployed Turkish-supplied weapons, suicide drones, tanks & heavy artillery, against opposition leaders in Mogadishu, rather than directing those same arms at Al-Shabaab. Somali bloodshed for political gain. Unacceptable.

Those recruited and financed to undermine Somalia’s security and stability have been decisively defeated by our security forces. Their plot collapsed before their eyes, and they were driven back from the very targets they sought to attack. The Somali people now see clearly who stands against peace, stability, and national progress. Those who once hide behind false narratives and political slogans have exposed themselves through their actions. As for those who funded this failed venture, their investment has yielded nothing but defeat. Having failed in their objectives, they are now left counting the cost of their miscalculation.

Mogadishu is peaceful again—and the people couldn’t be happier. Thanks to Somali security forces, backed by residents and civil society, order has been restored. Locals have completely rejected violence. To political actors with ambition: take it to parliament, to the streets in peaceful protest. Violence will not be tolerated. There are other ways. Choose them. The streets of Mogadishu are no longer defined by fear, but by hope. For the first time in years, families are gathering in public parks, markets are bustling, and children are playing without the shadow of violence. This transformation is the result of Somali security forces taking decisive action—backed by the full support of Mogadishu residents and civil society. Citizens stood with their soldiers, sharing intelligence and rejecting intimidation. The message was loud and clear: enough is enough. To those still tempted by chaos: there are other venues—dialogue, elections, civic engagement. Pursue those. Violence will not be tolerated. Mogadishu is watching, and Mogadishu will resist. 🇸🇴 #Somalia #MogadishuRises #PeaceOverPolitics

What state? The constitutional order in Somalia collapsed in April 2026. One fmr President does not have the authority to order the disarmament of another fmr President or former PM. That command itself constitutes anarchy incitement by fmr President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Anyone who supplies weapons to unauthorized groups near the heart of our capital is complicit in every potential act of violence, fear, and instability that follows. To those who arm militias and then cry victim: your tears ring hollow. Disarm. Stand down. Respect the law—or face the full consequences of threatening Somalia’s fragile peace. Mogadishu deserves safety, not strongmen. The people deserve justice, not intimidation.

After former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire ( @HassanAKhaire) aligned with him, he launched an attack against the Somali government. Clashes continued for more than 20 hours in parts of Mogadishu. Somali government security forces ultimately brought the confrontation to an end and thwarted what authorities described as a planned operation. Following the end of the fighting, large numbers of Somali citizens gathered to express their support and appreciation for the Somali National Army and the security forces of the Federal Government of Somalia for restoring security.

The great USA stands with Somalia’s people, its sovereignty and territorial integrity. This is in line with all international laws and norms. This isn’t an exception.
We thank the United States of America for its steadfast support for the unity, territorial integrity & sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1960, Somalia & United States have enjoyed a strong ties based on mutual respect.🇸🇴🇺🇸

The old guard from northern Somalia— like the current regional government leader who are mostly officials from the Siad Barre government—have held power for decades by feeding younger generations a false narrative of collective southern blame. Now, desperate to avoid handing over power to young progressive northerners, they push an illegal diplomatic setup with Israel. This isn’t about sovereignty—it’s about survival. An already dire situation in Hargeisa is sure to be enflamed more. #Somaliland #Israel #Somalia
