Ukraine is doing better on the battlefield than at any time in years. But questions remain about how lasting its advantage is--and how dangerous a pressured Putin could be. @opinion @AEI bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

Another theater in the Israel-Turkey rivalry to watch is Somalia/Somaliland. For Israel, Somaliland is not just depth for the Houthis/Iran, but also to "contain" Turkish influence in the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea, given Ankara's strong partnership with Somalia. One of many factors in the complex competition in the Horn of Africa/broader Red Sea region.
My latest: Erdogan's speech on Israel was not a threat. It was a calibrated warning, shaped by a regional architecture Ankara can no longer afford to ignore. As Israel's strategy to isolate Turkey quietly unravels, the real story is what comes next. turkiyetoday.com/opinion/a-w…

The Iranian regime is attempting to use calibrated force in an attempt to extract concessions from the United States without triggering a full-scale US response. Iran has likely designed this new approach based on an assessment that the United States does not want to return to war.

Last week @FutureNavyComm visited with sailors at USVRON-1. We saw the Sea Hunter, @Saronic Corsair and @BlackSea_Tech GARC unmanned surface vessels at the U.S. Navy’s “robotic proving ground” Plan is 12 MUSVs in the fleet by Q427; 40 in 2028; and 72 next 5 years. Seems likely to grow —>
Massive for @Saronic and, by extension, the broader defense tech and autonomy ecosystem. Like really massive. Kudos to everyone involved, from the engineers and shipbuilders to the Apache crew and the Navy’s Task Force 59 operators and leadership. Feels like a turning point.

The global shock waves of the Iran war will be felt for years--perhaps chief among them, the effects on a US military that has performed impressively, but will find itself overstretched and under-armed for some time to come. @ForeignPolicy @AEI foreignpolicy.com/2026/06/09…

NEW | The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted strikes targeting Hezbollah sites in Tyre, southern Lebanon, as part of its ongoing campaign against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. These strikes do not constitute an escalation or inflection because the IDF has repeatedly struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, including in Tyre, during the current conflict.
