one of the unwritten curriculum things is that this is something that upper middle class or above kids know but lower SES undergrads definitely don't. the one activism thing I do in teaching sections is finding a way to mention this every term.

You don't have to recruit the smartest students. Recruit the students who are teachable with strong work ethics. #ProfessorTip

RT @ralindawatts: Yes, the same folkx that use the acronym #DEI as a stand-in for Black people. And, thus, organizations continue to co-opt the work with performative gesturing, simultaneously furthering anti-Blackness. x.com/doc_thoughts/status/15…

Some folx use the term "diversity" as a stand-in for "colored people." As such, diversity has become institutionalized "othering."

Confirmation bias is twisting the facts to fit your beliefs. Critical thinking is bending your beliefs to fit the facts. Seeking the truth is not about validating the story in your head. It's about rigorously vetting and accepting the story that matches the reality in the world.

I’ll keep shouting this from the rooftops: supporting learners in learning is not coddling, nor is it lowering standards, it is *literally* the job of an educator.
