ALT 2022 Fellow Martin Venezky is a renowned designer, artist, and teacher specializing in book design and typography. For the past several years, he has created extensive bodies of work in photography and photographic installation. He is a long time graduate design educator. ALT 2022 Fellow Emily Pilloton-Lam is a designer, builder, educator, and founder/executive director of the nonprofit @_girlsgarage. Emily teaches and works alongside youth co-designing and building public architecture projects. ALT 2022 Fellow Steve Jones is a dedicated design educator and award-winning graphic designer with over 30 years of experience in professional practice and higher education. He is the principal of plantain studio in Oakland, California, and teaches in Critical Ethnic Studies at California College of the Arts. Our Fellow Award honors seasoned designers and practitioners through consideration of their significant contributions to our Bay Area communities among a range of areas of achievement and impact — from considerable levels of service to raising standards of excellence in professional practice to dedication to education, as well as reputation, conduct, and leadership.

ALT 2021 Fellow, August de los Reyes (1970–2020) was a champion for design who was meaningful, inclusive, and humane. With a career spanning 25 years, his recent role was the Chief Design Officer at Varo, as well as Philips NV, & Eastman Kodak. He was a San Francisco Design Week Advisor, and Co-Founder of Design Bay Area.
