Hell yes. Funnily enough, I recently got a cold solicitation from someone on Linked in, offering me a whopping $15/hour to train an AI in language skills. So, dude wanted to pay me minimum wage to train a robot to replace me. Hell no. But please do send Rosie the Robot asap.

Caligula. I was 18 but I don’t think there is an age that’s appropriate for that film. Most horrifying: I saw it with my dad and brother. My brother picked it for a family movie night. (I picked Local Hero.) The GIF search didn’t turn up an actual clip, which is a good thing.

Not sure how I ended up in such august company, but hey, glad to be part of this! I’m going to recommend a classic that still guts me with its brilliance whenever I think about it. Presenting my ancient paperback. #SciFiAroundUs #scifibooks

Editors are underpaid and undervalued. I’ve been an editor, hired them, and supervised them. Good editors are as rare as diamonds bc it’s a specialized skill & takes talent. But the pub industry itself undervalues editors & has never paid them what they’re worth.

@dan_hanks, @amjusticewrites , Jim Mcleod, & @rwwgreene discuss with Glasgow 2024’s John Coxon the ups and downs of storytelling in different media. Are there things one can do that the other can’t? And what of adaptations? Was the book really better? (2/3)

In my own little journey up Successful Writer Mountain, I made it to "I've Got an Agent!" Plateau, and I'll never forget that joy and validation. But my book never sold and my agent and I parted ways, and I and my writing lived in Despair Valley for a while.
something I’ve learned recently: the feeling of rejection doesn’t end when you get a book deal. the book of my heart, a book I laboured over for months, is performing poorly. I feel like it’s been completely lost, no matter how much I shout about it — because no one else is.

Eventually I picked myself up and started trekking up Self-Publishing Hill, a climb that's had smaller highs but lows just as deep. A confidence-robbing crisis hit me a few years ago and I am still enmired and lost and unable to find any joy in the thing I used to love most.
